6 Tips To Study Effectively

As you might know from my previous posts, all throughout january, I had my A-level exams since I will be graduating from High-School in March. Of course, these exams involved loads of studying. Although I felt, like I have developed my own study routine throughout the last couple of years, in the last 6 weeks, I really internalized a routine that helped me big times. Today, I am going to share my tips and tricks for effective studying with you!

xx Julia

1. Keep your study place neat and clean without any distractions
One thing that really stuck with me is a clean study desk without any kind of distraction like magazines, books etc. Like this, you won´t be temped to make a short study break reading through a magazine or the like. Personally, I was very productive when sitting at our living room table, as there was nothing on it except for a flower bouquet.

2. Put your phone away
Another tip that was essential for an Instagram-addict like me: put your phone away, the farer away, the better. One time, I even gave my phone to my mom and let her put it away. Like this, I wasn´t tempted to go pick it up for a (not so) short Instagram break. It also can be useful to either turn off the phone or at least set it on silent, so that all those What´s App messages won´t distract you.

3. Keep the most important utensils at your study desk
Helpful can also be to keep the most important utensils like water, some snacks, pencils, paper etc at you study desk. Like this, you don´t need to go to the kitchen to get yourself something to drink, because then, it´s likely that you won´t get back within a minute. This of course can also be applied to stationary etc.

4. Set yourself intermediate goals
For me, it was good to set not only one goal aka. being perfectly prepared for the exam, but also to set some intermediate goals. This really helped me, because I was aware that once I knew a certain topic I would be allowed to make a little break, browse through my Instagram feed and answer some What´s App messages.  Like this, you will work faster and you won´t get carried away with thoughts etc.

5. Go for a walk in between
A good way to relax and free your mind from the study stress is to go for a walk, go running or doing something outside. Like this, you can distract yourself from studying for some time, which is essential when you have nothing else on your agenda but studying for exams. Personally, I went out to eat with my family, I met up with some friends or went to the theatre.

6. Reward yourself
This is something, I already mentioned in my tip no. 5. Rewarding yourself by going out to eat, going to the theatre or a concert or simply purchasing the bag you have wanted for the longest time is another great way to study effectively. You will be motivated to reach your goal. In this case, I am not only talking about rewarding yourself at the end of everything, but on a daily basis through cooking a delicious lunch or watching your favorite series at the end of the day.

I hope these tips and tricks can help you in the future! And please let me know: how do you study effectively?

Freue mich über Gegenbesuch oder neue Leser.
