DIY CARD HOLDER/ SMALL WALLET

After what feels like ages, I finally have a new DIY project for you- as I neither have to go to school nor my internship, I finally have loads of free time to sew and craft.
I think it was last summer that small card holders or tiny wallets in which only a few cards and some cash fit in popped up on my radar. Especially for summer (or going out as well), where we tend to go for smaller bags, such a small alternative to the normal, big wallets can be really convenient. Since I couldn´t find any cute yet affordable ones during a quick search, I decided to make one myself out of some leather leftovers. Really easy and it doesn´t take a lot of time either!

Was ihr braucht:
Nadeln
Schere
Nähmaschine

What you need:
2 pieces of leather 10,5cm x 7,5 cm
2 pieces of leather 10,5 cm x 6 cm (you can also vary the hight in the center of the piece like I did)
11cm zipper
needles
scissors
sewing machine

1. Firstly, you start by sewing along the edge of the smaller piece of leather. Do the same with the second smaller piece. These two pieces will later work as the pockets to hold the cards.

2. Next is the zipper. You secure the zipper on the larger pieces of leather with the help of some needles. Make sure, that the edge of the leather does not come too close to the zipper, because otherwise you might not be able to open and close the zipper due to the seam. Afterwards, you secure everything with the sewing machine. Also make sure, that the seam starts and ends 0,5cm away from the edge of the leather (seen in the picture above).

3. Afterwards, you sew  about 0,5cm away from the edges to sew the two pieces of leather together. Keep in mind, that the ends of the zipper should disappear within the seam.

Optisch sollte man da keinen Unterschied sehen. Und schon seid ihr fertig!

4. Last, but not least, you sew the two smaller leather pieces on to the little pouch we´ve sewn in the previous steps. Since four layers of leather can be quite challenging both to secure with needles but also to sew with the sewing machine, it is probably easier to sew them on seperately (like I did, too). There shouldn´t be a visible difference. After completing this step, you´re done!
