TRAVEL TALES: ON TRAVELING SOLO AND SPAIN TIPS?

I feel like this year is going to be the year of many "firsts". First time going to university, first time living all by myself, first time moving to a different city, and also the first time traveling solo, without a friend or family member by my side.
Those of you, who follow my blog on a regular basis probably already know, that I am going to Barcelona and Valencia in 2 weeks time on my own. I was actually planning to go to Lisbon and Porto with a dear friend of mine, however, due to certain circumstances, we had to alter our plans. Travelling Europe for a couple of weeks after graduation has been in my head for at least a year and after the cancelled trip to Portugal, I thought that this was the chance to make my dream become reality. Originally, I wanted to go to Cinque Terre, Positano, Barcelona and Valencia, but after some serious planning, I had to cross Cinque Terre and Positano off my list. So now, I am going to Barcelona and Valencia.
Right now, I have to admit, I am not as much looking forward to go on this trip, as I would if a friend would accompany me. I guess, I just look at this trip with respect. Although I really enjoy being around my girlfriends, family and people in general, I´ve also always been good at being only with myself. I love shopping myself, spending time reading good books and I don´t need to be entertained 24/7 by other people.
I have travelled alone, however, there were always people waiting for me at my destination. That is not going to be the case this time. Nevertheless, since I am going to sleep in dorms in hostels, the chances are that I will meet new people and even spend some time with them exploring the city. We´ll see. In the end of the day, it´s only 11 days, 2 of them spent travelling, so maybe, they will be e the 11 most boring days spend wandering two cities all by myself, but again, can that be so boring after all?  I heard a lot of people saying, that travelling solo defenitely isn´t for everybody, but I feel, like it could be something for me.

Last, but not least, I am asking you for your advice. Do you have any experience in travelling solo in a foreign country? And do you have any tips and advice for Barcelona and Valencia? It can be anything from sightseeing, restaurant tips, beaches, shopping advice but also flea markets, vintage shops and much more! It would love to hear your recommendations!
