DIY: THE STATEMENT SNEAKER

In letzter Zeit bin ich richtig in DIY Laune. Dass ich meine weißen Chucks liebe, ist inzwischen kein Geheimnis mehr. Letztens habe ich meine alten Chucks gefunden und sie kurzerhand mal in die Waschmaschine geworfen, damit man  sie wieder als "weiße" Chucks bezeichnen kann - denn davor waren sie wohl eher beige und anschließend mit einem - wie ich finde- coolem Muster versehen. So eignen sie sich perfekt dazu, simple Outfits wie Jeans und ein weißes T-Shirt aufzupeppen und sind dank der Farben weiß, schwarz und silber auch vielseitig kombinierbar. Bald werde ich euch ein Outfit mit ihnen zeigen, aber heute gibt´s erst einmal eine Schritt-für-Schritt Anleitung, wie ihr euch eure eigenen Statment-Sneaker machen könnt.

Lately, I´ve really been into DIYing. By now, it´s probably common knowledge, that I love my white Converse. A couple of weeks ago, I found an old pair of white converse and quickly threw them in the washing machine because they couldn´t be considered as white anymore. Afterwards I added a cool pattern with some textile colors in silver, black and white. I think that they are the perfect piece to upgrade a simple outfit like jeans and white tee and because of the monochrome colors I chose, you can wear them with everything. I will soon show you an outfit with them, but for now, I leave you with a step-by-step guide on how to make these kicks.


Was ihr braucht: 
ein Paar Canvas Sneaker
Textilfarben in den Farben eurer Wahl
Pinsel
optional: ein Spitzentischläufer
ein Bügeleisen
ein Küchentuch

Dieses DIY ist ziemlich einfach. Ich habe einen Tischläufer aus Spitze verwendet (den kann man im 1€-Laden finden) und ihn auf einen Teil des Schuhs platziert. Anschließend tragt ihr einfach die Farben eurer Wahl auf die Spitze auf. Durch die Löcher in der Spitze entsteht somit automatisch ein Muster. Allerdings könnt ihr das ganze auch ohne den Tischläufer machen und einfach Farbe dort auftragen, wo ihr wollt (das habe ich am Ende gemacht). Nachdem ich die Farbe für 12 Stunden trocknen gelassen habe, habe ich anschließend noch die bemalten Teile gebügelt. Hierbei solltet ihr aber darauf achten, nur durch ein Küchentuch zu bügeln, da sich die Farben sonst nochmal verändern könnten. Und schon seid ihr fertig!

This DIY is quite simple. I used a lace table runner, placed it on one part of the shoe and simply applied the textile colors on random spots with the help of a paint brush. Because of the holes in the lace, applying color on top of the lace will create a pattern by itself, however, you don´t need to use a lace table runner as you can simply apply bits of color where you want it to be (that´s what I did in the end). Once I was done, I let the shoes dry for 12 hours and then ironed the canvas parts by placing a clean cloth on top of the canvas and then iron over it- like this, the colors won´t be damaged - and you´re done!
