FANCY SOME READING MATERIAL? HERE ARE 6 BOOKS THAT ARE ON MY READING LIST

Holidays are usually associated with relaxation, exploring and the beach. For me, reading can easily be added to that list. At the beginning of the year, one resolution I had for 2017 was reading one book a month. Not that much, right? But I often don´t make myself the time to sit down with a good book. Especially in the evenings, I will sit down with my laptop and watch a few episodes of my favorite tv show instead of reading a book. Since being at home again, I tried to make it a habit of reading every day. So for the past week, I barely watched any TV after dinner, instead I sat down with a book on the sofa and didn´t stop reading until bedtime.
I finished one book yesterday morning and started the next one in the evening and I am currently on the edge of ordering some more books on amazon, so I thought I could share with you 6 books that are currently on my reading list.

EAT BEAUTIFUL by Wendy Rowe:
With Wendy Rowe being a reknown make-up artist in this book, she focuses on how to nourish your skin from the inside out. The book contains not only 70 recipes, but also lots of information on how different groceries benefit your skin, Wendy´s bathroom must-have and general beauty tips. I mainly bought this one for the recipes, but I love the concept of nourishing your skin through your eating habits.
I already tried out 2 recipes and they were incredibly delicious!

BIG LITTLE LIES by Liane Moriarty:
Single mum Jane has just moved to town. She's got her little boy in tow - plus the secret she's been carrying for five years. On the first day of the school run she meets Madeline - a force to be reckoned with, who remembers everything and forgives no one - and Celeste, the kind of beautiful woman who makes the world stop and stare, but is inexplicably ill at ease. They both take Jane under their wing - while careful to keep their own secrets under wraps. But a minor incident involving the children of all three women rapidly escalates: playground whispers become spiteful rumours until no one can tell the truth from the lies.Which is when the secrets come out - and now someone is going to pay with their life . . .

A couple of months ago, the TV show "Big Little Lies" aired for the first time. I came across it through various Insta-Stories and when I saw that it is based on a book, I knew that I wanted to read the book first before indulging in the show.

DIE TUCHVILLA-SAGA by Anne Jacobs
Augsburg 1913. Young Marie starts to work as a kitchenmaid in the impressive manor, the Tuchvilla, where industrialist family Melzer lives. While the girl who grew up in an orphanage tries to find her niche between the other servants, the Melzers are looking forward to the ball season because the youngest daughter of the house, Katharina, is going to be introduced into society. Only Paul, their eldest son and heir of the family, prefers his student life in Munich - until he meets Marie.

This saga contains three books and I´ve already read the first two. When you´re looking for something light, a love story with some history added to the mix, I can recommend you this one. Only available in German, though - sorry!

MY NOT SO PERFECT LIFE by Sophie Kinsella
Katie Brenner has the perfect life: a flat in London, a glamorous job, and a super-cool Instagram feed. OK, so the truth is that she rents a tiny room with no space for a wardrobe, has a hideous commute to a lowly admin job, and the life she shares on Instagram isn’t really hers. But one day her dreams are bound to come true, aren’t they? Until her not-so-perfect life comes crashing down when her mega-successful boss Demeter gives her the sack. All Katie’s hopes are shattered. She has to move home to Somerset, where she helps her dad with his new glamping business. Then Demeter and her family book in for a holiday, and Katie sees her chance. But should she get revenge on the woman who ruined her dreams - or try to get her job back? Does Demeter – the woman who has everything – actually have such an idyllic life herself? Maybe they have more in common than it seems. And what’s wrong with not-so-perfect, anyway?

FAHRENHEIT 451 by Ray Bradbury
Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television “family.” But then he meets an eccentric young neighbor, Clarisse, who introduces him to a past where people didn’t live in fear and to a present where one sees the world through the ideas in books instead of the mindless chatter of television. When Mildred attempts suicide and Clarisse suddenly disappears, Montag begins to question everything he has ever known. He starts hiding books in his home, and when his pilfering is discovered, the fireman has to run for his life.
