READING LATELY AND WHAT'S ON MY TO-BE-READ LIST

In my last book post, I shared 6 books that were on my reading list back in the end of july. Over a month has passed and I read all of them but one!

Is it okay to be proud of the amout of books you read within 6 weeks? Because I defenitely am! I still remember the time when I first read Twilight. I was probably 12 years old and read the first book within 2,5 days. I literally spent the entire day in my room, sitting on my reading chair and only stopped reading to eat or have a wee. Unfortunately, that's something I only very, very rarely do nowadays. However, I decided to swap my evenings watching Netflix with evenings spent reading a book!
I've already talked about Big Little Lies in this post and even dedicated an entire post to Eat Beautiful, so I won't talk about these again, but I thought that it would be nice to give you guys a little review about how I liked the books I've shared in said post. So let's get started....

WHAT I'VE READ LATELY

In this post, you can re-read what the books are all about!

FAHRENHEIT 451 by Ray Bradbury
In theory, this book could have been right up my street because I usually really like dystopias (like the Divergent Series!), but this book and I - we didn't really click. It's defenitely not a book you can read easily, because I really had to concentrate on what was happening. Also, it was quite hard to understand at times (which is usually never a problem when I read books in English). I cannot really recommend this one to you, but nevertheless, feel free to read it yourself, because it isn't a besteller for no reason!

DIE TUCHVILLA SAGA by Anne Jacobs
The Tuchvilla Saga is split into 3 books and I've read all of them in the time from May to August. The second has to be my least favorite one, because it is quite lengthy at times (maybe because it's set over 4 years), but I really enjoyed the last one again (although that one was a bit tough in the middle as well). Nevertheless, the combination of the historical background (the 3 books are set from 1913-1926 in Germany) and the story of the Melzer family is something I enjoyed very much. For a light summer read, it's great, but I am not hooked.

ONE TRUE LOVES by Taylor Jenkins Reid
I absolutely loved this one! When reading what it's about, I already knew that it would be right up my street - and it was! I've been sick for the last couple of days, so this book kept me company while sitting in bed all day long. It's so beautiful and sad at the same time, it makes your heart break - but in a good way (if that is even possible!). I think more than 50% of the book, I was actually sobbing or having tears in my eyes (I'm really emotional though..), so you maybe shouldn't be reading this in the waiting room at the doctors or on the plane, but it's an amazing book with a great message! I also really liked Reids writing style, so I already have another book written by her on my list.

ON MY TO-BE-READ LIST

THE LIFE CHANGING MAGIC OF NOT GIVING A F**K by Sarah Knight
Are you stressed out, overbooked and underwhelmed by life? Fed up with pleasing everyone else before you please yourself? Then it's time to stop giving a f**k.This irreverent and practical book explains how to rid yourself of unwanted obligations, shame, and guilt - and give your f**ks instead to people and things that make you happy. With a bonus section on how to save your sanity over the holiday season, the simple 'NotSorry Method' for mental decluttering will help you unleash the power of not giving a f**k and will free you to spend your time, energy and money on the things that really matter.
For those of you, who have already read this one, Sarah Knight brought out "Get Your Shit Together" just recently

DER GARTEN ÜBER DEM MEER by Mercè Rodoreda
Catalonia in the twenties. For six summers, the gardener of the manor observes the coming and going of the young owners Francesc and Rosamaria. They throw exuberant parties and live an enviable summer night's dream. But the gardener also notices the small flaws in what seems idyllic. At the latest, when an even bigger manor is built next door, the flaws become unevitable, because the new neighbor is Rosamarias early love Eugeni...

From the setting, this book reminds me a lot of the Spanish version of Great Gatsby- sounds good to me! Unfortunately, it seems like it's not available in English though...so sorry!

A LITTLE LIFE by Hanya Yanagihara
When four graduates from a small Massachusetts college move to New York to make their way, they're broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition. There is kind, handsome Willem, an aspiring actor; JB, a quick-witted, sometimes cruel Brooklyn-born painter seeking entry to the art world; Malcolm, a frustrated architect at a prominent firm; and withdrawn, brilliant, enigmatic Jude, who serves as their centre of gravity. Over the decades, their relationships deepen and darken, tinged by addiction, success, and pride. Yet their greatest challenge, each comes to realize, is Jude himself, by midlife a terrifyingly talented litigator yet an increasingly broken man, his mind and body scarred by an unspeakable childhood, and haunted by what he fears is a degree of trauma that he'll not only be unable to overcome - but that will define his life forever.
I read so much about this book, that I am really looking forward to reading it! I already ordered it and it should arrive by tomorrow.

HANDLETTERING ALPHABETE by Tanja "Frau Hölle" Cappell
As you can see from my recent posts, I love to add a personal touch to my posts through adding some handlettering and typography. When I started handlettering, I didn't read any books or watched videos on the do's and dont's - I just started writing. Now, that one of my favorite Lettering-Artists brought out a book with tutorials on lettering, calligraphy, how to digitalize your letterings etc. I am really eager to try out new alphabets and get creative. Another plus is that the book is blush pink and gold, so it also looks great as a coffee table book!
this one is only available in German, I'm sorry!

MAYBE IN ANOTHER LIFE by Taylor Jenkins Reid
At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence in her best friend Gabby’s guestroom. Shortly after getting back to town, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.
Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. What happens if she leaves with Gabby? What happens if she leaves with Ethan?
In concurrent storylines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into radically different stories with large-scale consequences for Hannah, as well as the people around her.
I loved One True Loves so much, I just had to read another book by Taylor Jenkins Reid!

Have you read any of these books and what is on your To-Be-Read List?

One True Loves hat mir wahnsinnig gut gefallen und ich hab es sofort an meine Mama weitergegeben. Fürs Flugzeug ist Big Little Lies aber auch gut.

    1. Thank you so much!
I have heard of her, but I think I've never read a book written by Isabel Allende. I believe my mom has a few of them in her book shelf, so I'll check that out. Thanks for the recommendation!
