In the past weeks, I stumbled upon superfood burcha a couple of times mainly through Vicky from Bikinis and Passports and Bettina from Bohos and Bombs. I am always up to discover new breakfast options, so I was really curious what this whole Burcha thing was about. After doing some research, I discovered that Lonijane behind Feel The Lean invented this superfood burcha - an adaption from the regular bircher muesli that is really popular.
I made a few changes to the recipe, because - although I found a lot of ingredients at home - I didn't want to run to the supermarket. A great thing about this burcha is that it is really filling and keeps me completely satisfied until lunchtime, which is amazing because I've been trying to cut down on snacks as much as possible.
By soaking the seeds overnight, they are activated which results in the nutrients being available much easier and quicker plus it increases their nutritional value - win win!

Ingredients for 2 servings superfood burcha:

These measurements are just an example of how you can mix your burcha. You can change things up completely up to your taste!

  • 20 g flax seeds
  • 15 g sesame seeds
  • 25 g sunflower seeds
  • 15 g chia seeds
  • shredded coconut
  • almonds
  • 30 g rice oats
  • frozen (or fresh) berries
  • 1 cup milk (I used regular cowmilk, but any milk is just fine)
  • 4 tbsp yogurt (I used raspberry yogurt)
Add the measured ingredients into a large mixing bowl and mix them well. Add the burcha mixture into a glass jar and add the yogurt and milk. Stir everything to mix. You can add the berries either now to soak them overnight as well or in the morning just before enjoying your burcha.
